(Requires Halton's GE C40-8W pack).

(I used the Dash 8 model as I thought it was a better stand-in for a Dash 9 than the AC4400CW model).

NS 9701 was built by GE in December 2001, as one of an impressive 1,090 C40-9W locomotives built for NS. These engines were all upgraded to 4,400 horsepower (and redesignated as C44-9W) around 2013 and 2014.

If my research is correct, 9701 was still in service as recently as May 2021, but I’m not sure on what her current state is. For all I know, she might be rebuilt as an AC44C6M within the next year or so.

As of March 2025, NS 9701 Has been Rebuilt as AC44C6M 4912.

Isn't 1071 the CNJ heritage unit. Either way it must have been a nice sight.

ive seen this unit 3 times last time i saw 9701 it was trailing 2nd behind 1071
