The mod is still relevant. The game feature doesn't apply to when you are equipping the crown. This prevent having to open it every time you put it on.

Does the same happen with the mod disabled? It would be nice to have a video demonstration. I have no controller so I can't test this myself.

Hey,
if you play with controller and have a backpack, the moment you press down(right stick) while the selection is in the backpack, it will go down in the collapst crown inventory.
You then have to navigate it to the top slot to even move it again.
Do you have a way to fix this bug?
