Chevalier Class Battleship

The Chevalier is a warship that incorporates the firepower and durability of a battleship with the range and versatility of an aircraft carrier, all in a single, unorthodox package. Built originally to operate alone as commerce raiders, these ships were found to also be useful leading long range battlecruiser squadrons thanks to their ability to both scout out targets and engage them from both the air and sea without the need to assign a vital carrier to a fleet, as well as their extensive superstructures giving ample room for an admiral and their staff.

These ships have an unusual main battery layout of 2 Quadruple 406mm main gun turrets, both of which are mounted aft. This is due to her extensive forward aircraft facilities, designed to accomadate a large airwing of 9 NTB-3F Seaplanes. The ship also has a potent secondary battery of 16 dual purpose 127mm guns in 8 dual turrets, 4 to a side. Her anti aircraft battery consists entirely of 40mm Bofors guns scattered throughout the ship. Her armour, while decent, is still slightly below the strength of contemporary battleships, and her speed is average at best.
