The planet we know as Rhe has a very interesting history, and that is mostly because after all this time we know next to nothing about it.

Yes; it was discovered in the second recon of Sector G9, back before the advent of deep space sonar. The vessel that found it transmitted enough back that we knew it was found. And nothing more.

Further incursions into this sector were a long time coming - on account of the Rebellions - but eventually we made it back and established the fact that Rhe is inhabited by intelligent life. Very intelligent life...

Though we cannot really speak with them, per se, we do know through what communication we have achieved that the beings there are not hostile -- exactly. Our modern mode of equipment and protocol of engagement has shown us that they are, in fact, predominantly interested in peaceful trade.

I think it just took a long time before we humans realized that these....amorphous sheets....are as advanced as we are... ...or more...
