Norfolk Southern SD60E Add-On Pack

(Requires Halton's original NS SD60E Pack).

This pack includes seven extra numbers for Halton’s SD60E model, namely 6935, 6948, 6959, 6980, 7030, 7034 and 7035. The first four were requested by FerrariGamingYT, while the last two were requested by NS Dude. I added 7030 as my own idea, especially seeing as I found a cool picture of 7030 hauling Norfolk & Western 2156; a Y6A steam locomotive.

The SD60E is a custom rebuild of the standard-cab SD60s, exclusive to Norfolk Southern and created at their Juniata Shops in Pennsylvania. The prototype - NS 6900 - was delivered in 2010, and a further 135 locomotives were converted between 2013 and 2017. The rebuilt locomotives feature an NS-designed wide-nose cab with improved crashworthiness, new electrical equipment and an upgrade to 4,000 horsepower (previously the SD60s only had 3,800 horsepower). The ‘E’ in SD60E stands for ‘enhanced’, and their distinctive cab has also been used on the G.E. C40-8.5W locomotives.

For reference, the engines in this pack were originally built in the following years:

6935: originally built in 1985 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6562)
6948: originally built in 1986 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6535, originally CNW 8018)
6959: originally built in 1985 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6601)
6980: originally built in 1986 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6637)
7030: originally built in 1988 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6672)
7034: originally built in 1986 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6624)
7035: originally built in 1986 (rebuilt from SD60 No. 6612)

Originally NS planned to have 240 locomotives rebuilt as SD60Es, but the project was cancelled after 7035 was completed. NS’ remaining collection of unrebuilt SD60, SD60M and SD60i locomotives were sold in 2019.

In May 2021, SD60Es Nos. 7034 and 7035 were regeared to a top speed of 79 miles per hour for the NS Office Car Special train.
