Southern Pacific GS-4 and GS-5 Pack

(Requires Stationmaster's Southern Pacific GS Pack).

(This pack includes three additional GS-4 engines; numbers 4438, 4444 and 4450, as well as the two-strong GS-5 class. The tenders all have large SP lettering on them, as requested by TrainBoi119).

Southern Pacific’s GS-5 was a class of just two 4-8-4 steam locomotives built for the SP in 1942, at the Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio. They were numbered as 4458 and 4459, and looked identical to the previous GS-4 class.

The only difference between a GS-4 and GS-5 was that the latter was equipped with roller bearings. 4458 and 4459 were painted in the same SP Daylight livery as their predecessors, and often hauled the Southern Pacific’s famous Coast Daylight, San Joaquin Daylight and Sunset Limited passenger trains.

The two GS-5 engines remained in service until 1958, when they were retired and replaced by diesels. Unfortunately neither 4458 nor 4459 survived into preservation.
