F-13 CERBERUS, [printable + animated propeller + no mod], Aerospace Engineers 1940

Hey guys :D

The reason I built this was simple: I couldn’t find any that I like online XD. I want a printable propeller fighter, that looks good and flies well. Maybe dogfights. Is that too much to ask :0?



So~ No subgrids, no mod whatsoever. DLC was used for lights, still functions without it. Only Atmospheric thrusters, engines + batteries. I like to fly this at around half speed, 50 m/s ish. I think the flying experience is pretty nice, given that you fly it like an aircraft. Two Gatling guns. The propeller has a spinning animation (some simple timer block tricks :P), not shown in the screenshots. Unfortunately no folding gears, that would be out of the specs ;p.

This was based on WW2 fighter aircraft, mainly Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, but because SE blocks have their appearance and restrictions, I prioritized good-looking instead of similarity to the reference.



The flight control for this is slightly different from other ordinary spacecraft. To simulate atmospheric flight, I found this gorgeous script:

You can check its link to find out what it does but for this, if you press toolbar 7 and run the script, it forwards at a constant speed. So there is actual throttle control, hold w or s to change speed. The scripts stop once you exit the aircraft, or by pressing toolbar 8, aircraft speed reduces back to 0.

On top of this, toolbar 9 toggles the propellers. It turns off forward & backward thrusters as well as changing the propeller animation.
