After 50 hours, I finally am able to put this one to rest.

Time for a little background,
The DeTomaso Pantera is a mid engine RWD monocoque coupe that originated from Alejandro De Tomaso's company in Italy in 1970 (mine is the 1971 model). Shortly after the Pantera's creation, De Tomaso started a partnership with Ford, which placed the Pantera in the hold of american markets. Despite this style of Sports car being a specific niche for buyers, there was a lot about this car that made it stick out at the dealership. The car was cheap, around half the price of most competing Ferraris, despite possessing similar performance. The car was considered one of the first common-to-market (the Ford GT wasn't common to the market) mid engines to be manufactured to the united states, even though the body was imported from Italy, the internals were all pure american manufacturing. One of those american internals in specific was called the 5.8 L 351 Cleveland V8, which made around 330 hp, making a 5.5 second 0-60, all while sounding amazing. The Pantera was basically a Shelby GT at the heart.
This all seemed all good and dandy, but what was the catch? Well... there were a lot of bugs with this thing right off the dealership, It was cramping, had overheating issues, and was quite impractical in terms of MPG and storage space. The interior also had a lot of poorly designed placement choices with certain interior gadgets. Although you really couldn't do much about the space or the height of the car, fixing these bugs off the market was relatively easy! due the monocoque design, disassembly and modifying the Pantera was like taking apart legos. After fixing those bugs, you had quite the capable car.
Unfortunately, the course for the Pantera's time at america was quite short, disengaging from Ford in 1975. Although the Pantera stopped producing in America, the line of Pantera continued to 1992, with parts still being manufactured for it to this day!

Alright, so a brief summary of my model Pantera,
I based this off of the 1971-1972 variant. The Pantera has a ton of variants, but I wanted to go with the somewhat original. It is quite hard to find a completely stock model of the Pantera, so some things here and there might just be inaccurate to time frame, but I did use a couple blueprints to help me out with the chassis, even then, I have no idea if they are 1-1 or not.
Anyways,the Pantera I made is completely frame built, with 1-1 dimesions, independent double wishbone suspension, and to my best abilities, body. This thing handles amazingly, It is quite slippy, as it should be, so you're going to have to be easy on the throttle to truly drive this thing efficiently. The suspension is VERY reliable, but not invincible, as it should be. The weight is perfectly balanced. . . "as all things should be". Although it isn't the selling point of this car, it is pretty fun to crash.

==== IMPORTANT ====
-This is quite CPU intensive to run on 2khz, but it is possible to run it on 1khz, but you will have to manually stiffen the suspension because panels in 1khz provide a lot of weight. If absolutely possible, please play on 2khz.

-You can change the color of the body in the group menu. Press on the "Change colors" group to change the primary colors.

-Press X for an off-brand ForzaVista.

==== FEATURES ====

==== KNOWN INACCURACIES ====
1- The weight is inaccurate. because of the driver being stupidly heavy, it needs a counterweight. This, plus all the panels makes the car 300 kilos off of the real weight. This sucks, but it could be worse, it could be 3000 kilos like my other builds.
2- because of the rarity of the car, certain things were a lot harder to find, so the chassis may have some inaccuracies. take note that some features on the car were excluded due to optimization choices, so don't kill me for missing some engine features or for the chairs being lame, okay, maybe you can kill me for that, but do know that I would add more features if it weren't for the lag..
3- I tried my heart out to make the suspension as accurate as possible, but the tune may be different.
4- The headlight lights are smaller, due to clipping issues and the headlight angles being dependent on the angle of the driver, small thing, still notable however.
5- Performance and hp are different compared to the real model. DCR3d does not have the specific horsepower to meet the real Pantera's standards.

==== CREATOR'S NOTES ====
I am so happy with this build! The process was time consuming, so was finding all the resources and data, but it is done. A lot of things clicked instantly with this build, especially the suspension. The Pantera's suspension worked pretty much perfectly immediately after I finished it! the setup was very compliant with DCR physics, as I was met with none of the problems that are natural to plague most suspension setups. Of course there where plenty of other problems with the Pantera, but spending 40 hours on the suspension setup wasn't one of them. I love this thing man.

This was quite the journey, but the story doesn't stop here. I plan to make a JDM car in the coming future, so stick around!

Thank you so much for your supporting my passion. It means so much that I get to share this with this small, yet loving community. Thank you once again, and I hope you all have a great summer!

also, don't steal my junk pls.

@TheGeeseOfDoom, Huh, that is pretty clever. I'll consider it next time I make a car with pop-ups. Thanks!

on my miata, i made a slider and put the headlight on it, when you close the popups, the headlights slide down using a rod. that way i was able to put bigger headlights without it clipping.

@JayCreate Alright then, I'll test around with more techniques with my next build to make it a lot more stable. I already use a bunch of techniques as it is for stability, but if you got some better tech that doesn't include making it simpler, I'm all for it.

@CasualCole Thanks man, keep it in your projects!

@CasualCole it's not the panels. hell I've made cars with more panels then this car has. the problem is that the parts are pretty unstable and move plenty. the game hates this (I learned the hard way) can can screw up performance

@DroiD'Z love the pigeon btw.

@JayCreate It can run on 1khz, but I cannot do much about the panels. The panels really screw up the performance. I've made it a goal to optimize my builds as much as possible, while keeping the looks somewhat decent, however with this build, it was a real struggle. It was all fine, until those panels man.

Really nice car!
JayCreate 2021 年 7 月 5 日 上午 9:16
no prob man. you may want to consider making the build a little more stable for the others, there are many moving parts that lag the game at times, probably more for others
