Onion Intersection (Default)

Onion Intersection is a compact 3-way intersection connecting 2 highways (3+3 and 4+4) with a city connection into a 4+4 road. It requires a few mods (see on the right) but no special roads as this default version is based on the default highway system delivered by Cities:Skylines.

The intersection respects the lane math and uses both Node Controller and Intersection Markings. Please see my recommendations for a better experience in the pictures.

Here are a few tips:
1. For more realism, use TM:PE to change speed limits in steep turns within the intersection, in particular for the underground u-turn and the 4 circular turns..
2. Use TM:PE to edit the city exit portion's intersection to allow for traffic to flow and not mind if the intersection has cars in it.
3. Use TM:PE to edit the left turn arrow on the city exit intersection and make sure all 4 lanes only go straight.
4. Use TM:PE to remove the traffic lights on the city exit portion as the inbound and outbound are straight on and there is no need for lights there.
5. As described in the pictures, please use Node Editor where needed to both expand the intersections as needed and slope them for a better visual effect.
