British Rail Class 86 v2

The Class 86s were a class of 100 mixed traffic electric locomotives, the most numerous in the UK, that were introduced between 1965 and 1966. They were deployed primarily on the West Coast Mainline, supplementing the existing fleet of class 81 - 85 locomotives on both passenger and freight workings. 16 were exported to Bulgaria and Hungary, and are still in traffic. Freightliner retains 30 of them, which were only just withdrawn from traffic recently for overhauls. Three 86s have been preserved, and the rest have been scrapped.
