*At the moment, the mod does not change anything, but if you want to stay tuned, you can add the mod to favorites. Also with the "Current Favorite" count, we will understand how many people are interested in our project.

There is nothing perfect in the world, but everyone strives for the ideal. Project Babylon is a mod aimed at rebalancing items, integrating new, and rethinking old mechanics.

How many times...?
Have you ever thought that your favorite game, sometimes, just leaves no chance of winning?
  • How many times did it happen that when you entered the room you had no chance to react and not get damaged?
  • How many times was it that the mob just spawns inside of you?
  • How many times coming to the final bosses you lacked damage because you only got active items or Hp Ups? How many items you didn’t pick up because they themselves are too weak and synergies are too rare?
Everyone who played Isaac understands this feeling. Resentment, from the fact that even when playing perfectly, there is a chance that you will make a mistake that could not be prevented, but other than that...

We seem to have a problem...

Yes, we have a big problem. The last major update for The Binding of Isaac was released recently, which could lead to a gradual fading of our favorite rogue-like. Prevention of this process is seen only in mods... Any project one way or another catches up with death, but this does not mean that it cannot be postponed.

So what's the solution?

The only solution that we see is to create a platform on the basis of which, taking into account the current balance, mods will be integrated. A strong foundation for our tower is paramount.

What about a specific plan?

Since Isaac still receives updates, we are doing something that most likely will not be fixed.

Here is our To-do list:
  • Gathering a team, making a work plan, adjusting organizational, communication, and general issues. Creating common files, an environment for communication, distribution of work fronts, etc. - WIP 50%
  • Checking ALL rooms in the game and fixing those that do not fit into the balance, rethinking Secret and Super Secret rooms - WIP 10%
  • Revision of the logic of building routes to the final bosses which include fixes for the key items, floor sizes, chances of rooms appearing, alternative routes etc. - WIP 0% - CONCEPT
  • Revision and rebalancing of ALL items (that are needed to be rebalanced) , changing the visual component, etc. - WIP 0% after all updates
  • Creation of unique mechanics , items, rooms, synergies, interactions with the world, etc. - WIP 5 New Item concepts and 2 unique room concepts
  • And finally, the integration of mods only after completing all the previous points
  • new storyline?

How can I help?

We need people who, brick by brick, will strive higher towards the ideal.

Positions required for the project development:

Tech Lead.
Requirements: A person who not only understands Lua and modding in Isaac but also a person who is able to explain the task to others, teach and suggest a solution.

Coder, Programmer.
Requirements: Understanding the Lua language and modding in Isaac.

Artist.
Requirements: Working with pixel art, projects in the style of Isaac or conceptually similar art style.

Animation Artist.
Requirements: Working with pixel art animation, in the style of Isaac conceptually similar art style.

Sound Designer.
Requirements: Ability to create, feel and integrate sounds.

In-Game Tester.
Requirements: Have 300+ hours in Isaac, have perseverance, and the ability to describe game problems, cons and pros, etc.. Stating your opinion by typing on the keyboard

Game Balancing Tester.
Requirements: We require a person whose experience consists of more than balancing modifications for Garry's Mod.


Also, speakers of different languages are very much welcome to contribute to the translation. Feel free to contact us if you know a language from the following list: Spanish, Italian, Romanian, German, French, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese. Please note, that the language for contacting us is Russian or English.

Also, if you have a unique experience, for example, you are a theologian (who can help with references to the Bible), a media personality (who can help with advertising), a narrative designer, musician, copywriter, and many other specialties that have been forgotten, then you are definitely free to contact us!

IMPORTANT The application, in the text or title, must contain the word "Babylon", otherwise, it will not be checked. All applications will be reviewed by the beginning of August, so do not worry if your letter is left without attention.

If at the beginning of the application check it seems to us that we do not have enough people, we will move from the passive phase (like now, when we only have a mod page on Steam) to the active phase, with increased media development. Full time development is planned for the beginning of the fourth quarter. The first update is scheduled for mid-October.
