BR Class 35 No. D7018

D7018 was built in 1962 by Beyer Peacock (Hymek) Ltd in Manchester. More information on the class’ history can be found on my D7017 page:

Like the rest of her class, D7018 had an incredibly short working life, only being retired by British Rail in 1975. Fortunately she has since survived into preservation, initially being housed at the Didcot Railway Centre for many years before moving to Williton station on the West Somerset Railway.

In 1995 she suffered a major engine failure, and was taken out of service for overhaul. It wasn’t until June 2019 when Class 35 No. D7018 finally returned to service, and since then she has occasionally run with classmate D7017 (also based in Williton). Fast forward to today, and D7018 is 59 years old and still in working order.
