Gunner signed with TNA in 2010 after competing on the indies as Phil Shatter. Alongside Murphy, was was billed as being part of TNA security.

Gunner and Murphy quickly joined Immortal, serving as muscle for the stable. The duo competed in the tag division, but fell short of winning tag team gold.

In a three-way match that included Murphy, Gunner won the TNA Television Championship in 2011. He competed in the Bound for Glory Series that year and began to establish himself more as a singles competitor.

Gunner remained on the mid-card while wrestling on his own, but found success with a new tag team partner, James Storm, in 2013. The duo captured the TNA World Tag Team Championships within a few months.

After splitting with Storm in 2014, Gunner got involved in the TNA World Heavyweight Title picture, but fell short before leaving TNA in 2015.

Gunner signed with WWE in 2017 and began appearing for the company as Jaxson Ryker in NXT.
