Mission Critical U.S.S. Lexington Full Work In Progress MK II

描述
Hello Space Fans!

I am proud to introduce you to the Bunker Hill Class Lite Cruiser U.S.S. Lexington from the DOS video game Mission Critical.

This is my second attempt to recreate this ship in a 1:1 scale (giving up on this one because i recently realized this one is TOO SMALL after YEARS of work!). You may notice my avatar is actually a screen shot of the actual ship from the game. This ship has been my primary inspiration for countless Lego builds, graph paper designs, my own sci-fi book style (also a work in progress) and now more recently, Space Engineers designs. Please enjoy a remnant of my memory/subconscious.

INSPIRATION BACKGROUND:
Those of you that remember Myst would recognize the adventure video genre of the 90's. High 3D graphics for the time, but a click to move maneuvering mechanic instead of a fluidly immersive 3D world we are all used to with today's technology, and mini games that reveal the game plot in spurts.

Mission Critical is an obscurely rare Sci-fi installment of this genre. in a universe that has a mix of hard science and science fiction literary elements as well as poses moral and

Game Plot: You are the sole surviving crewman of the U.S.S. Lexington, after the captain (played by Michael Dorn [LtCdr Worf from Star Trek: TNG/DS9]), ordered the crew to surrender to an enemy ship, and detonated a warhead when the ship to ship shuttle was in range of the enemy ship.

You go threw little puzzle and mini games attempting to repair the ship from a recent battle, and learn the plot of the universe and the mission of your ship at the same time. I will post a YouTube video of the full game play-threw to this description.

THE BUILD:
I attempted once before to create a full 1:1 scale model of the Lexington, but it was horrendously small and lacked a lot of the hull detailing needed to get the feel of the ship.

This is WIP MK II
MK II features a full Habitat module, (with cut always while attempting to fit an elevator system) and some attempts at deck design, a full shuttle bay (it's massive). finished fuel tank frame, full weapons bays and a planned integration of the reactor sphere between the weapons bays and the engine section.

I recently attempted to recreated Deck 4 (see pictures) purely from the deck plan and internal play-threw video and realized my entire ship was... yet again.... was way too small for the floor-plan (i built the skin before the skeleton). So now i'm back to the drawing board.

Let me know if you would like me to post Deck 4, or MK I, or the Elevator MK i and MK 2 designs.
