DB BR 614

German Class 614 DMU capable of 140kph. Developed around 1970 and introduced in 1972, the 614 was in essence an improved Class 624/634 (VT 23/24) with a body shape optimised for tilting operations and an improved engine which was limited by the 624/634s engine management system. However, given the weak engines and predicted areas of operation, the tilting technology was not included in production models. They were phased out in Germany until 2010, with units sold off to Poland and Romania, where they remain in service.
