DB BR 211/212 (ex V100)

German Class 211 and Class 212 diesel locomotives. Introduced as V100 to replace steam engines on branch lines, they were a common sight throughout the second half of the 20th century. As more DMUs became available in the 90s, they were phased out until 2006, with a few units still in service with heritage and private railways. Starting in the 1990s, another batch of locos were modernised and re-designated for rescue operations in tunnels where they are still in-use today.
