Constitutional Defense Monument in Thailand

Back to 1932 A.D., The political conflict after siamese (Thailand) revolution was arisen that lead to disturbance, and eventually coup d'etat by some opposite soldiers, whereby the country was being governed by the people's party as a government at that moment. After counter-insurgency by the government, the constitutional defense monument was constructed in 1956 to memorialize the death of the officers, a 4 years later.

The conceptual idea of this monument is based on Thai political ideology at that moment; nation, religion, monarchy, military, and constitution. This monument was designed as an octagonal cylinder along with the thing that looks like a petal of the lotus blossom. The base of this monument was constructed as octagonal decks. The top of the monument was placed with the constitution laid on a tray. Each wall of the monument was designed to present a nation's story; The west side was hung with the dead officer names for memorial, the east side was hung with the poem by king that represents the monarchy. The north side was hung with the Dharmachak (wheel of life) that represents the main religion in Thailand, and the south side was hung with the sculpture of the women, men, and child that represents the people.

The constitutional defense monument (Lak si monument) was ever located at Lak si roundabout, Bangkean, Bangkok before it was temporarily demolished by department of highways due to the renovation of this roundabout. The department of highways declared to the public that this monument was relocated to a construction site that is under the department of public work of Bangkok metropolitan. However, the director of department of public work refused the existence of this monument at that construction site until now. Nowadays, no one knows where is it.
