Polar Class Destroyer

Built for custom faction (see collection for details).

The Polar is a huge destroyer built to take on all sorts of crafts and function as a super heavy interceptor and patrol ship. While more like a cruiser in function, the ships that this is based off (Zumwalt) is a destroyer.

The Polar's main armament is the two frontal railguns. They utilize a primitive ammo selection system to and also function as CIWS if needed. They alternate between Heavy-Flak, APHE, supercavitation sabot and normal hollow point shells. The front cannon is much smaller but fires faster rounds while the rear cannon has a much higher fire rate. The Polar is also equipped with two rear 50mm sabot guns/CIWS guns, a top mounted AA laser along with 12 large missiles and 24 medium and 4 large torpedoes.

Even with its high combat strength, the main feature on the Polar is its defensive systems. It has strength 10 shielding, smoke, heavy armor, a solid top speed and all sorts of interceptors and radar decoys along with a huge LAMS system.

The LAMS system can potentially take out swarms of large missiles and one or two huge missiles if needed but is focused around taking out smaller missile swarms and APS.

For ASW weaponry, the cannons switch to the sabot rounds and the ship also has long range sonar buoys for better sub detection.

With all this said, the Polar has one main weakness, detection. I chose to give the polar mediocre and exposed detection equipment that can be somewhat easily taken out. On top of this the Polar uses a sub-par armor scheme (sometimes using wood instead of more durable materials) as well. In addition huge torpedoes should be pretty effective against it if set up right.

I'm also looking for people to help test out the ships already designed and to provide feedback on potential changes and suggestions along with issues with ships. (on older ships, if steam engines don't work, just message me and I'll update the file)
