Welnyel, the Devourer

Welnyel has arrived to join the misery. It has some trouble with speaking, but it's really good at eating. The only thing more mysterious than its origin is the pronunciation of its name.

Its main gimmick is combo-eating. In compensation for the fellow survivors, Welnyel can refine foods made by Monster Meat. Those puny human stomachs need some help.

Hunger rate: 1.35x

Every value can be modified in the Mods menu.



Special Eating Habits: Every third food restores double stats. However, it can't eat small consumables (such as Ice, Seeds, Lightbulbs, etc.). Welnyel has seasonal food preferences: While it prefers meat during Winter and Summer, it likes veggies more during Autumn and Spring. Foods with the favored type have a 1.25x stat bonus, the less popular ones have a 0.85x stat decrease. Welnyel can't lose Hunger, Sanity or Health by foods.

Relatives and Enemies in the Constant: Welnyel is a monster (Pigmen and Bunnymen are hostile against it). Depths Worms don’t attack it, unless it tries to take their Glow Berry bait. Worm Holes don’t drain its Sanity.

Purple Meat Bad, Red Meat Good: It can refine foods made by Monster Meat (recipes are in the Refine tab). Welnyel gains 5 Hunger and removes every negative effect. The resulted foods have 5 less Hunger stat compared to their original ones.

MUST EAT: Welnyel takes more damage by starvation (2 extra damage per seconds).

Welnyel has unique voice, as well as some unique voice lines.



2022.07.22.: Aligned the body parts (its head and torso was a bit out of line).
V1.3.: MUST EAT perk replaced: Welnyel no longer has damage boost when it starves, it drains more health instead.
V1.1.1.: Quick bug fix.
V1.1: More configurable options added. Every third food's Health and Sanity will be doubled by default.
V1.0: Welnyel is available to download. Waiting for feedback.

- The talking sound is made from parts of the the Fiesta de los Muertos track from the Rayman Legends OST.

I have a good/bad habit of adding small reworks to my characters. Check out the mod's page when you see the mod is updating. If I feel like something is out of flavour or just doesn't make sense anymore, I try to come up with something better..
