C&O GP35 3568 (WEATHERED)

描述
Formed in 1869 the Chesapeake and Ohio was formed in the state of Virginia. Led by Collis Huntington the C&O ran from Richmond VA, to the Ohio River by 1873, where the town (now known as Huntington, WV) was named after him. Through the coal business, the C&O found new links reaching Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo in Ohio, and Chicago IL. In the early 1960s the C&O was headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. The C&O started jointly working with the Baltimore and Ohio in 1963, with the B&O having controlling interest over the Western Maryland. The three railroads were put together under the Chessie System name in 1972. On November 1, 1980, the Chessie System merged with Seaboard Family Lines to form CSX. They adopted their first paint scheme in 1986.

Like many other railroad companies of the 60s and 70s, the C&O used the blue and yellow stripe. Most of the C&O GP35s had their characteristic yellow nose, but this GP35 #3568 did not have the yellow nose according to original images from back in the day.

This C&O GP35 #3568 works well on any layout within the time span of the 1960s to the 1980s before most original chessie system family locomotives were repainted to CSX liveries.
