描述
While hampered slightly by a little thing called the Great Depression, the DM&G's electrification efforts were generally successful, especially when coal shortages threatened their steam fleet. Arguably, those first electric engines were what carried the railroad through the Depression, as struggling mines shut down and the railroad was steadily losing a steady income.

Once things started to pick back up in the late '30s, the DM&G's electric age was here to stay. These handsome streamlined engines arrived on the DM&G in 1937, for passenger service. There wasn't as much of it, most people traveling by car if they traveled at all, but there was enough to keep these V8s humming.

This V8, No. 632, displays the "as-built" olive paint scheme, matching the 400-class electrics.
