Christian Cage wrestled for TNA in between WWE runs, capturing two NWA World Heavyweight titles in the mid-2000's.

Christian returned to the WWE in 2009, capturing the ECW Championship and two World Heavyweight Championships before retiring due to concussion issues in 2014.

In early 2021, Christian returned for the Royal Rumble match, which was won by his longtime partner and friend, Edge. However, Christian was not signed to a WWE contract, and his desire for "One More Match" led him to sign with AEW in March 2021. He debuted for the company at AEW Revolution.
