After training at the WCW Power Plant, Horshu began working as an enhancement talent in WCW, picking up several wins on minor shows while losing easily to more established stars.

Horshu notable had his hair shaved into horseshoe shape on top of his head, and worked the word 'shu' into his promos regularly.

After leaving WCW in 1998, he wrestled for a few years on the indies before joining WWE as Luther Reigns in 2004.
