I'm glad to see people are still playing this game even today.
And sorry again for all the timing puzzles, I know they are a bit too much at times. Been wanting to remake some parts of it and even tried to continue it in LoG2 but never got around to finish it due to a lack of ideas and not enough time.
Had to check to make sure, but no, that room is not essential to completion based on the items I could see placed there in the editor. There are some bonus items there that may be helpful later and also some hidden items in the basement if you drop down a specific hole.
And yes, the hint is in how the light is cast for the level after that.
there is also a hidden door that can be opened if you set the switches based on the sound they make.
and ofc, after that there's some more timing based stuff. sorry bout that. nothing too hard tho.
