LORE: This door is one of the last remnants of Hapis Island's underworld society of killers and thieves. Rumour has it that once the Cobalt Internal Security Forces (CISF) busted down the underground criminal scene, they killed and got rid of all the evidence involved. With the execptions of some key artifacts that could not be destroyed for law-related purposes. Due to its close ressemblance to the now dubbed "Ethereal Assault Rifle", it is belived to have been the property of the same nefarious group. Scavengers found this relic soon after finding the legendary weapon. So far, the most plausible theory they've come up with is territory marking. The door was probably placed at the entrance of an old secret lair or base and its purpose was to deter away any unwanted visitors...
