Ночью немецкий флот попал в шторм, продолжавшийся несколько суток: он причинил некоторый ущерб кораблям и серьёзно затруднил навигацию. В 10 часов утра 8 апреля «Адмирал Хиппер» протаранил и потопил шедший в одиночку эсминец «Глоууолм»; после чего он и 4 эсминца отправились в Тронхейм-фьорд.


В 8:25 из Кильского порта выплывает группа подводных лодок под командованием Эрнста Гурбеша (вы), для противодействий обстрелов кораблей «Союзников» которые обстреливают точки где десантируются солдаты Вермахта для захвата Нарвика.

From 3 April German ports were abandoned for transports to Stavanger, Trondheim and Narvik. At about 3 a.m. on 7 April the German warships carrying army units destined for northern Norway assembled at the Schilligskiefer approach and headed north: these were the battleships Gneisenau and Scharnhorst, the heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper and 12 destroyers.

In the afternoon the fleet was detected by British naval aviation, whose command decided that the formation would break into the Atlantic. It sent several flotillas to the North Sea and to the Shetland Islands-Iceland line.

During the night, the German fleet was caught in a storm that lasted for several days: it caused some damage to the ships and seriously hampered navigation. At 10 a.m. on April 8, the Admiral Hipper rammed and sank the lone USS Glowolm; she and four destroyers then proceeded to Trondheim Fjord.


At 8:25 a.m. a group of submarines under the command of Ernst Gurbesch (you) sails from Kiel harbour to counter the shelling of Allied ships which are shelling the points where Wehrmacht soldiers are landing for the capture of Narvik.
