The Covenant is a theocratic hegemony made up of multiple alien species and races that had control over a large portion of the Orion Arm in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Covenant has political, military, and religious affiliation, originally a cease-fire between the San'Shyuum and Sangheili following a brutal conflict between the species. The Covenant's expansion to include at least 6 other races united in the worship of the Forerunners and the Halo Installations. The Covenant waged a genocidal campaign against Humanity, ultimately collapsing due to an internal conflict between the Sangheili, otherwise known as Elites and and the Jiralhanae, also known as the Brutes.
