(Requires the GMD-1 Livery Pack by Anyone999991).

KiwiRail is the state-owned railway company in New Zealand. It has been in operation since July 1st 2008, when the government reacquired the railway system after 15 years of private ownership. Today they operate freight and passenger trains in the North and South Islands.

The network extends from Bluff - at the tip of the South Island - all the way up to Kauri in Northland, with a break over Cook Strait between Picton and Wellington.

As for liveries, KiwiRail’s main colour choices are red, grey and yellow. There are several variants of the KiwiRail livery; the most common one being yellow ends with grey and red on the sides (arranged vertically). The very early livery had horizontal colour separation, and is quite hard to find as it was only applied to seven locomotives (one DC, one DFT and five DX’s).

This re-skin is based on - perhaps - the most unique version of the KiwiRail livery, which is unique to shunting tractor TR 920. This engine has red bonnets instead of one grey/one red. And is this livery variant upon which this GMD-1 re-skin is based. Speaking of which, the number on this engine is that of a real-life GMD-1.

Canadian National 1444 was built by General Motors Diesel in 1959, originally with the number 1046 and an A1A-A1A wheel arrangement. There were a total of 101 GMD-1’s built, with 5 originally going to Northern Alberta Railways and the rest to CN.

In 1988, GMD-1 No. 1046 was renumbered to 1614, but retained her three-axle bogies. Then - in 1998 - she was rebuilt with two-axle bogies, a larger fuel tank and another renumbering; this time to 1444, a number that she still carries today. After an incredible 61 years of service, GMD-1 No. 1444 was retired by CN in March 2021.

I certainly can, but I'll have to use the AC4400CW model in disguise. Why 7689 in particular?
