Chicago Burlington & Quincy

The Burlington Route, formally known as the Chicago,Burlington, and Quincy Railroad, was a Class I railroad that operated in the Midwest of the United States. The company merged with Northern Pacific and Great Northern Railroad to form the Burlington Northern Railroad. This train is modeled with the GP9 as the locomotive pulling a short freight consist.

This is a dummy freight train

What that means is this will not show up in game as a freight train. To the game this is a passenger train with 0 passengers. I do this so I can control where the train goes and better manage the rail systems on my builds.

To use simply draw a passenger line and select this train.

About this asset

1024x1024 textures

Comes with automatic engine and caboose reverse feature: spawns the engine in front of the direction the train goes. comes with custom sound effects for movement and horn.

Requires Vehicle effects

How to Use

Train functions as a regular passenger train so you would use station tracks in railyards and draw lines between the two points you want the train to go. Keep in mind outside connections are station tracks and can have lines drawn to them.

I would suggest using the railway collection and placing station tracks in railyards to have a point for the train to stop.

Would love a high hood forward cargo train.

@Astro I thought perhaps KC...Great location to study rail networks! As for actual freight trains and a YT series, merely whimsical flights of fancy on my part meant as a verbal expression of appreciation for your work. Thanks again.

@dhhill, yes my current build is a 1950s recreation of Kansas City's rail infrastructure at the time. I prefer to use dummy freight because I am able to control which lines the freight trains use to make sure the right company uses the right tracks since it's all interconnected. Actual freight versions are probably pretty far down the line and sadly I don't really have the patience for a youtube series currently. Sadly I barely have enough time to work on all the trains as is.

@Astro FWIW, I can tell you that real freight trains of your style and design and quality would be very well received on the workshop. I'm curious about your own builds: do you have a particular map you like to use to actually grow cities and/or do just focus on building cool and extensive rail infrastructure? In a universe where you had unlimited time, if your screenshots are any indication (and I think they are), a YouTube video or series with EvametryE showcasing your builds would be welcome... Thanks for all your efforts.

@Katyusha not sure, I might revisit these and make them normal freight but idk. For me Dummy is way more useful and I have a ton on my list to make so not sure if I will take the time to make them normal freight down the line.

Would you be interested in a commission to turn your dummy freights into real freights?
