Hercules oceangoing tug (1907)

The Steam tug Hercules was built in 1907 by John H. Dialogue and Sons shipyard in New Jersey, built for the Shipowners' and Merchants' Tugboat Company of San Francisco as part of their 'red stack fleet'

She also had a sister ship, called Goliath. for the first part of her service life she was an ocean going tug, up untill 1924 when she was acquired by the Western Pacific railroad in 1924 and converted to her railroad tug configuration with the higher pilot house as she is still preserved as today.
