Billy Gunn teamed up with Chuck Palumbo in 2002 under a gimmick in which the tag team partners appeared to be in a romantic relationship.

Billy and Chuck became two-time World Tag Team Champions with Rico as their manager.

Six months after the team formed, Chuck proposed life partnership to Billy, but during their commitment ceremony the following week on Smackdown, the team revealed that the whole thing had been a publicity stunt that had gone too far. However, the minister at the event was revealed to be Eric Bischoff in disguise, and the Raw GM unleashed a new tag team, 3-Minute Warning, on Billy and Chuck.

Billy was injured not long after the fake wedding angle, and after rehabbing, went back to his Mr. Ass gimmick.
