PFI Presents: The Staria Defender

The Defender is a cheaply produced defense and patrol craft meant to be stationed nearby stations and outposts for rapid defensive response to any conflict. Slightly heavier armored than the standard Staria, the Defender is by no means a dedicated warship, but it makes excellent use of its class's agility and acceleration to behave more akin to a small fighter rather than a large defense platform. Its four gatling guns and two rocket launchers are synchronized to approximately 500 meters in front of the ship, and should be fairly effective at dispatching any craft within range. Should any craft manage to break through that 500 meter range, the weapons are gimbaled for a much closer 150 meter range.

A unique feature shared among the Staria line of ships is their compatibility with inventory and projector systems. By using a conveyor junction, a conveyor tube, and a projector, a Staria Defender can be constructed, refueled, and recharged simultaneously.

Creator's note: due to its use of subgrids, while in natural gravity, the entire grid will slowly sink at a rate of 0.25 m/s. This is a known bug with SE.
