Temple of Heaven - Hall of Imperial Zenith 北京天壇皇乾殿

The Temple of Heaven is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. The Hall of Imperial Zenith was built in 16th century.

北京天坛最初为明永乐十八年（1420年）仿南京城形制而建的天地坛。嘉靖九年（1530年）实行四郊分祀制度后单独辟为天坛。皇乾殿坐落在祈年墙环绕的矩形院落里，其间有琉璃门相通，是明代建筑至今无改建。庑殿顶，覆蓝筒琉璃瓦，汉白玉石栏杆台基。牌匾为嘉靖帝手书。
