描述
Remote Station Omega is my 24th and final starter station, with each of the 24 named after a letter in the Greek alphabet. The design goal for each starter station was to have life support features (i.e., an airlock into a pressurized interior and cryo chamber) for at least one, but preferably two (or more) players, a source of power, a refinery or two, an assembler, a survival kit for healing, an ore detector, an antenna or beacon, an O2/H2 generator, an oxygen tank, an optional hydrogen tank, one or more cargo containers, a gravity generator, and, for rudimentary flight to allow positioning the station, a control/flight seat, a gyroscope, and six thrusters (one in each direction).

Utilizing a minimalist design approach, Remote Station Omega provides all this in a completely vanilla build without the use of mods, DLC, rotors, and/or pistons resulting in a 3- × 3- × 12-block design envelope that looks more like a ship than a station. This configuration resulted in the most size- and weight-efficient design possible. For brevity, however, no battery charging feature is included, so the player must enhance this station with solar, hydrogen, and/or nuclear power before power from the four batteries is completely exhausted. Because space allowed, also included is a programmable block containing Isy's Simple Doors to semi-automate operation of the airlock doors.

Add or remove components as desired to achieve the effect you need for your scenario.

Blocks: 108
PCUs: 1,621

Check out the rest of my remote stations collection.

hm.. little bit small or?

Thanks. I just wanted to see if I could cram all the components that I thought were necessary for a starter station (OK, sure, I could have just stuck a battery on a survival kit and called it good); this was the design basis all the other 23 remote stations, although I went far above for some. I did actually build a version of this that was 2x2x10 blocks for one player, but it was just a box. Although that version had a lot of class, it was all third. Anyway, I figured my last would be my least.

"Utilizing a minimalist design" you don't say :P
Great as always!

Indeed.

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

All right, I got all the way up to Eta (the one that looks like an anchor) tonight.

Tomorrow I will continue working up to Remote Station Nu.

Chi will go in after that, and then I'll start working on the next "spoke".

Also, the plan has changed slightly. Instead of being a square ring, the station will now be cross-shaped.

This will preserve three of the docking bays on each UDM instead of two.

Also, when you eventually view my work, all of the modules will have their original color so you can tell what station is where. (All my details, such as armor between the stations, will be in the default grey.)

Oh, how I know that feeling! "Save Often" is my motto.

I tried once already today, had Alpha and Beta hooked up to one of the UDMs and had set Chi up to begin charging, but my computer had a glitch and I had to shut down SE using task manager.

I didn't manage to save before it happened.

Oh well!

My next attempt will be in a few hours. This time I'll have autosave enabled.

I'm impressed. This is quite an ambitious project, and not one that ever occurred to me. I'm really looking forward to the end result. Please post a link so I can marvel at your creativity.

Also, there's one remote station that I'm making an exception for, and that's Omega. A set of Remote Station Omega units will become the mega-station's lifeboats. As such, they'll be connected to the station via connector instead of being merge-blocked. A gravity-assist chute will allow people to get onto the lifeboats quickly.
