It's quite scripted. Click on the [Start] button in the UI to the top left (and if that's partially off-screen, you should be able to drag it to a place of your convenience) when the game loads to deal out hands. Then throw cards on the table (the automation will reposition as appropriate.) There'll be times when a different kind of decision is required of you: that'll prompt you with a button somewhere (or multiple somewheres) in the play space. The message window should keep you apprised of whose action is ongoing.
