Skip Sheffield

NXT debuted in early 2010 as a cross between a wrestling show and a reality competition. Rookies from FCW were paired up with pros from the WWE roster. The winner of the competition was to receive a title shot in the WWE.

Skip Sheffield, the Cornfed Meathead, was eliminated early on in the competition. Right after the season ended, Sheffield joined the rest of the NXT roster in an invasion of Monday Night Raw, attacking John Cena and establishing The Nexus as a dominant stable.

Sheffield used his devastating lariat to punish opponents of The Nexus until breaking his ankle in August 2010. He spent the next two years rehabbing until redebuting as Ryback.
