Heath Slater (NXT/Nexus)

NXT debuted in early 2010 as a cross between a wrestling show and a reality competition. Rookies from FCW were paired up with pros from the WWE roster. The winner of the competition was to receive a title shot in the WWE.

Heath Slater, a would-be rock star, made it into the final four competitors before being eliminated. Right after the season ended, Slater joined the rest of the NXT roster in an invasion of Monday Night Raw, attacking John Cena and establishing The Nexus as a dominant stable.

Slater ended up winning the WWE Tag Team Championships while part of the stable, capturing the belts alongside Justin Gabriel.
