Pencilfish is genus of fishes native of the Amazon region in South America.They tipically are found in the sides of rivers hiding between the roots and vegetation of aquatic plants and trees.Even when some species like Anostomus group can be found in fast streams and mountain rivers on the eastern side of the Andes.Like other fish of the similar group of tetrafish they naturally group in banks to avoid predation.But this schools not necessary maintain an strict formation at all times.
