Sebascodegan Island

Anyone familiar with my maps knows that I like challenging topography. Sebascodegan Island (pronounced se-bas-co-DEE-gan) is no different. It lies northeast of Portland, Maine, in Casco Bay in the U.S. The striated landforms are the result of ice sheets pushing down from the north and scraping the bedrock thousands of years ago.

I'd been thinking of mapping somewhere along the Maine coast for a while. With all the lobster in the waters, I was wishing Cities: Skylines had a fishing industry. We now have the Sunset Harbor DLC, so it's time to pursue this. I've made the ocean waters deep and, I hope, still enough for lots of shellfish. (I don't actually have Sunset Harbor.)

The map is geographically accurate, as are the national roads. But the major highway is too far north in real life, so I brought it closer. The rail is fictional. The map is good for numerous small towns but you'll probably want the 25 or 81 tile mod to access them early on. I've also removed the catenaries with the Catenary Replace mod.

A big challenge with this map is the edge-of-map water flow pushing into the bays where sewage would get trapped. With too many little bays to resolve with a hundred water spawn points, I cheated by just putting in a sewage system to take your poo straight off the top of the map. There's even a water source to get you started, though you'll have to add more as your city grows.

Update December 2020: I figured out a better way to construct the Cribstone Bridge so I've updated the map to reflect this.
