ok I figured out how to make those full body effects work thanks to This tutorial [steamsplay.com]

it also doubles as a good general tutorial for the particle editor

You can lock particle systems to bones on player models, so they probably have multiple attached to different areas. That's just my guess.

Lock the particle transform to the playermodel's transform i think.
