Grant's White Huns (Toramana)

While virtually unknown compared the Huns of Europe, the White Huns, under various names - Hepthalites, Alk-khans, Harahunas, Kidarites, Uar - established a civilized empire that spanned from the Oxus to the Ganges, as great as the Sassanids and the Byzantines. Under king Toramana, their empire reached as far as Bengal - triumphing over the Gupta and Sassanid empires alike. Unlike Atilla, they did not worship Tengri - but a consortium of gods, the most important being the Sun God - Zuni, and the Indian deity Vishnu. Buddhist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Christian, Tao, Manichean and Gnostic alike traded and flourished under the White Huns, for a few brief centuries.
