The first in a series of common birds found in North America


The Northern Cardinal is one of the most abundant birds in North America, and is so common that a Major League Baseball team pretends to play as salad eat-, I mean, Northern Cardinals! An American Football team pretends to play as Northern Cardinals too, but little do they know that Northern Cardinals aren't in the desert, their distant cousins, the Pyrrhuloxia, live there. Makes sense why the team is so terrible, they don't even know their local birds! Losers.

Seven, count them, seven states have the Northern Cardinal as their state bird. I guess they all just copy each others work.
