Lore:
The Prometheos was the first colonial Battlestar. It was constructed 20 years before the first cylon-war. She defined the shape of a Battlestar like Galactica, Pegasus or Heracles (workshop).
You can find design elements of her ancestors like rockets and carrier-ships in her shape...
Prometheos is a heavy carrier, 430 meters long, with heavy arming...
She was in duty untill the early days of the first war...

- 3 Viper MK 1

Die Sidepods sind eigene Schiffe... Setz dich in das Cockpit.... Die Sidepods liegen in einer Schiene aus Fahrwerken

wie funzt das mit dem schiebemechanismus? das is ne coole sache! könnte man das auch für nen bohrer verwenden?

If you want a Battlestar more like the Galactica, check out the Heracles (In Workshop as well)

I made this design up... Its non cannon, more of a fan-fiction... I wanted to do a battlestar design wich apears older and like a predecessor model of the Galactica and all the other Battlestars... I the head section, normaly, the upper part is bigger, but I wanted a reminescene to battleships in design... The thin midsection was inspired by this well known Spaceship ;) http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2001_discovery2.jpg
And I wantet to look the shape a little bit like a rocket, cause i thought this was the origin of spaceflight in the BSG-Universe, as in our Universe. Finaly i wanted It to look a little bit like the Battlestar from the 79 Show, so there are more straight lines...

Tell me if Im wrong, but didnt the battlestars have a wider midsection? Or was it just the Galactica.
