Saw the Astro for sale at my local stations dealership and was instantly impressed.
So I bought one and took it home. Stepping into the Astro is a dream come true the interior styling and features are amazing and very well thought out. The pilots seat is exactly where I wanted it to be with no adjustment. very easy to fly from inside with no visibility issues due to the Astro's large windscreen and wrap around side windows.
Sadly this is where my comments end. Flying the astro was like flying a barge, The handling is poor it takes a year to stop and it sucks up fuel quicker than my flagship doing a fully loaded planet landing. Additionally there are NO backup thrusters so once the Astro has used up its tanks and all the ice you can store in its modest cargo cell you drift into whatever is in front of you with no way to stop just watching you fate get closer. After repairs I decided to pop down planetside to see if maybe it wasnt meant for space. I was wrong... by the time I got down low enough for the atmo thusters to kick in it was too late and even with the full force of all the hydro and atmo's firing at once nothing could stop the demise of my ship... worse still is that even with half the ship missing and all hovering atmo thrusters intact the poor Astro couldn't even lift itself off the ground.
My overall impressions of the Astro were that it was more of a SUV than a Sports ship.
Slow lumbering and barely powerful enough to get out of its own way.
I would recommend buying one second hand if you can because its one of the better luxury ships i've had the pleasure of flying in the last year but if you want to use it for any kind of practicality or in a situation where handling is needed I would look elsewhere.
Don't take my review too harshly as Delta is a very new company and we have just seen their first ship. It would be like judging Mercedes based off that 3 wheeled bike they made in the 1890s. I'm very excited to see what Delta comes out with next and I look forward to reviewing it!
KEEP IT UP DELTA!! Theres not a lot of luxury shipmakers right now and you have a talen (one to work on) but a talent no less!
