Sierra Avestruz West Africa

Sierra Avestruz is a fictional country set in West Africa and modeled and inspired by Sierra Leone.


Quick Description:

Terrain - West features an iconic mountainous peninsula rich on resources such as coal, iron or bauxite, while the mainland is flat and filled with marshes and swamps that hide resources of oil, and small hills on the southeast that hold a source of uranium.
Populated - The peninsula features a variety of French colonial towns and villages, some have remains of industrial infrastructure now long abandoned. The mainland holds only few native villages.
Points of Interest - Naval fort on the north tip of the peninsula, two pre-built French harbours, bombarded city of Dreux, the ancient city of Kumrabai or Rock Maramu.
Churches - French towns highly christian, rest of country not so much.
Challenge - I hope a balanced map that encourages trade with western countries and usage of boats & planes.

Welcome to our West African paradise of Sierra Avestruz!

After centuries of colonisation, we managed to overthrow our last conquerors - The French.

Compared to our neighbours, we selected the path to socialism! United with other Socialist countries, we shall march towards a better future for all peoples!

You, the leader of Sierra Avestruz Communist Party "SACP," are now tasked with turning this post colonial country into a industrial powerhouse of West Africa!

Except for the iconic mountains on the coast of the Atlantic, the coutnry is flat and filled with swamps and marshes. The hills offer enough resources to build a decent industry upon.

The map is populated with French colonial towns on the coast and few native African locations on the mainland.

All our neighbours are affiliated with NATO and our only way of trading with our allies is through naval or air transport.
