[GM] Half-Life Alyx Styled Apartments

To ensure that the map functions properly, make sure you have the following games are installed and mounted:

• Half-Life 2

If you need them mounted here is how to do it:

1. Start Gmod.
   
2. Click the game controller in the corner of the menu.
   
3. Make sure Half-Life 2 is check marked.

This is a small map intended for screenshots, video making and very light RPing. Unlike other maps, it uses the design philosophy and art styling from Half-Life Alyx. It features:

• Two apartment hallways
  
• An attic-like hideaway room
  
• Two different sets of balconies. One facing the citadel and another with a greenhouse
  
• A small street with an APC
  
• A small yard
  
• A small courtyard
  
• A few pre-posed NPCs in out of the way areas to help add atmosphere
  
• A highly detailed 3D skybox

This originally started as a way for me to try and recreate some of the stylings of Half-Life Alyx but in Source 1. This required me taking a good number of things I had learned before and combining them together. Like learning the importance of good detailing.

Another great example is with the func_smokevolumes used in the skybox. I had practiced some what on some unreleased maps but this was the first time I had applied it in this manner. Same thing with the env_smokestacks. Thankfully on a reddit post I made featuring a screenshot from this map, someone suggested changing the sprite on the smokestacks and I love how it looks. Finally, this is another bit of practice with packing content into one of my maps. Something I plan on continuing.

I hope people find this useful and enjoy it. It was a lot of fun to make and has taught me a lot about lighting, detailing and what works and doesn't in Source 1 and Gmod.
