Yarkis' Reduced AI Cheating Mod

描述
This was one of the lost TWC gems by Yarkis de Bodemloze, I'm just re-uploading here (also deleted few entries to ensure compatibility). Their description is below:

"The AI in S2 has a cheat that enables it to get superstrong armies by converting low level units like ashigaru into better units like samurai. That's why you sometimes see "impossible" AI armies the AI could not have build the regular way. It does so only with units not yet spotted by the player. This mod reduces this kind of cheating without completely eliminating it, because the same mechanism is also used to balance AI armies out.

The mod should work with any other mod. However, it does not seem to work on savegames. You have to start a new campaign."

To stress again, this does not eliminate AI cheating, just reduces a particular cheat to sane levels. Doesn't touch the bonuses AI gets from difficulty levels (income, morale etc.). Also works with ROTS and FOTS. Note: AI only starts getting those bonuses on harder difficulties (Hard, VH, Legendary), so the AI on Normal doesn't have them.

You can find more information here:

I tried to reach out to Yarkis (a few years ago, it seems) for permission, but haven't heard back, I hope it's fair to upload here. All credits go to the original modder. I'm actually using this merged with UAI Revived (strongly recommended), but they should work without problems even if you don't merge them.

If you enjoy this mod, rate it! Rating brings more subscribers and (hopefully) more feedback, which'll lead to better mods. Check my workshop for similar mods that enhance the vanilla game.

A discussion here showed that Yarkis' testings were irrelevant : https://www.reddit.com/r/shogun2/comments/1ig7dq5/harder_difficulty_without_ai_cheating/

Wow thank god the AI is sometimes just RIDICULOUS.

THE UNITS of the enemy cost only 41 per ashigaru lol . its like they have a good chance of outstacking you easily .

Thanks. Love Total War and the games, but sometimes I don't want to see another 20 Stack cresting the hill after winning another 1-3 Ratio. Really wish total war would work on improving it's AI and not just loading the opposing side with artificial(You get my meaning) modifiers.

@Boltte I don't think they have anything on Easy, they may be still getting some very small bonuses on Normal though, and they are probably receiving a bonus income regardless of difficulty. I don't have the game installed now, you can check that on the table I mentioned earlier.
@Juukavin
No, that's related to the difficulty bonuses and the general income bonus the AI receives. In my experience, my dynamic caps mod (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2243747604) prevents the minor clans from doing that without messing with difficulties, but it comes with a whole lot of other changes.

the issue I'm running into is the AI just recruiting an ENTIRE 20 stack with only have 1 settlement does this help that?

I thought AI still get bonuses even on normal and easy difficulty? Or is the bonus just the instant upgrade of units behind fog of war, which your mod fixes and the occupation resistance that someone else tried to fix, but crashes for me when I try to load the mod? So only two bonuses on easy and normal or is there more that you're not telling me....?

For campaign AI, there are things like admin cost reduction, extra income, upkeep reduction etc. etc. it's under campaign_difficulty_handicap_effects . They don't receive any bonuses when playing on Normal, so you can just do that, I'm not aware of any mods
