X5-Appollo [Type: Flak Sniper Rifle]

While inherently weaker and slower than most sniper rifles, the X5-Appollo is no simple weapon to scoff at. It fires a highly compacted energy round contained within an unstable magnetic field that weakens as the projectile flies out further. This often leads the projectile's containment field to completely disintegrate and send out shrapnels of unstable energy around its point of impact, allowing the user to deliver total chaos and wreak havoc over long distances. Its performance has lead a few to brand it the popular nickname 'the Sun Caller'.

Although it showed great potential as one of the earliest the prototypes leading to the X1-Harpoon, further work on it had originally been discontinued due to the weapon's unpredictable nature, as field tests have proven that it is far too dangerous and risky to use beside friendly personnel.
Despite this, it seems to have gained a strong cult following from lone hunters and solo operatives.

Variable Tech has since then been slowly reviving the project with newer models and stronger variations but an existing stolen cache of its earliest predecessors may already be scattered throughout the Relic universe.
