Knightmon (Digimon Masters)

描述
Knightmon, from Digimon Masters.


This first started as a quick and private side project for a friend.
He needed for it for something,
and thinking it would be simple since the models and textures are well... simple,
I obliged.

Turns out, the few days I've worked with it, there was a lot more work I've done for it
than I thought I would.
That's when I decided to make this into a full workshop release instead,
and well... here I am telling you about it.


Anyways...


I believe it's best if you experience what this model has to offer firsthand.
Nonetheless...

Features:
Character -
New Rig:

Since there wasn't a rig for me to begin with. I had to make my own.
I don't normally do this, so there might be some issues there and then.
Anyways, it has...
  • Bones with somewhat easy-to-read names and to "bip" naming conventions.
  • Full, custom bone weighting.
  • Local bone transformation and rotation setup in a certain way for easier manipulation.
  • Other misc. stuff.

Modified Mesh:
  • Reworked mesh around the area of the eyes, mainly for support with QC eyes.
  • Bounded mesh to more separated materials for easier manipulation with VMT's.
  • Added new separate eye meshes as well as bodygroup support for them.
  • A-posed model.
  • Other misc. adjustments.

Bodygroups:
Note: "*" means it's removable, or switchable to "<blank>."

Expression:
  • Eyes*
"Default" is on by... default.

Left and right have their own bodygroup categories.

I do recommend looking into that workshop item
which allows for skin and bodygroup animation.

Note:
There are two types of bones that relate the eyes:
"Eye" and "Blink Eye."
Eye controls the typical eyeballs
Blink Eye controls the compressed ones.



Weapons:
These exist as their own models.
  • Sword and Scabbard*
  • Shield*

Textures:
Mainly taken from Masters, and adjusted accordingly with SFM's shaders.
Character -

  • Eyes
Referenced from the body texture,
and made into a separate mesh and texture look more appealing visually.
(They were lower quality where it was based on.)

Through override materials, there's more options to switch through:

Use "$frame" (as an int) on "Left Eye" or "Right Eye" to alter it's texture.
Type in, the box right of it, the following frame number:
0 - Small
1 - Default
2 - Small


General -
Changes:
  • Diffuse
- Edited body texture to remove a baked eye texture
for separate eye textures, meshes, and materials instead.

I cleaned up some of the textures, if possible and needed.

Materials:
Just the regular ol' shaders.

Ambient Occlusion is set to 0.50 for most materials for less harsh self-shadowing.

If you're editing the VMT's, just keep in mind to use Notepad++.
I structured them to look organized there, not so much in VTFEdit.

Other Stuff:
To anyone who wants to try uploading this to Garry's Mod (GMOD), or anywhere else, go for it.
I have no plans of porting it to such as I don't have it myself nor any experience for it.
Provide at least some credit if you are, though.

I won't be importing animations.
I often alter the rig/make my own rig/add to the rig.
It'd be a hassle to rework them accordingly.

I'll only take requests into consideration, but that doesn't mean I'll do them.
I just want to post what I want to post, you know?

Don't try to claim this model, or any of it's assets, as one of your own.
It's not mine either and the same goes for you.
All rights are reserved to their respective owners, which should remain that way.

Ask me for help with the model, if you need to.
You could ask me any other question unrelating to the model.
I'll try to respond as best, and as much, as I could.
I'm not exactly too perfect with what I offer, but any feedback and/or assistance is appreciated!

And of course, go crazy with it. I don't really mind what you do with the stuff I put here.

Always happy to see some more Digimon added to the Source Roster. This looks worlds better than it does normally in game or out of. Would love to see all of the Sovereigns, including Huanglongmon, get this treatment. I wish you the greatest of luck with any future models you port!

ah, I'll never forget this Digimon. in 02, it threatened to destroy the world by mindlessly tapping on a giant rock with its sword. there were serious stakes, and they had to stop that Knightmon, but it was still too silly to really take seriously...

Wow, Knightmon. They really put some thought into that name didn't they. The model is good though.
