Lord of the Rings Civ5

Now complete and ready for subscriptions. Please see the documentation thread below for extensive details and a full list of acknowledgements. Based on Yenyang's earlier Middle Earth Civilizations mod and made with his approval. Meant to be played with Yenyang's Middle Earth Soundtrack, Middle Earth Only, and Middle Earth City States. It is compatible with Yenyang's Middle Earth True Start Location map, but can also be played with any random map and game parameters.

This LOTR-inspired mod essentially designs an entire holistic game experience around playing as a Middle Earth civilization during the Third Age. It features a stunted tech tree with some new techs, new and modified policies, beliefs, buildings, world wonders, natural wonders, specialists, canonical great people and great works, world congress functionality, reworked victory paths for "medieval" games, and a late game competition centered on the One Ring - all detailed with comprehensive civilopedia entries and as canonically faithful as possible. Despite this, most changes are small and only for balance/immersion so an experienced player should become familiar with it quickly.

LOTRC, along with the auxiliary mods Middle Earth City States, Middle Earth Soundtrack, and Middle-Earth Only, appear to all work when used with the MPPatch that allows multiplayer games with mods. It should be surprisingly simple, just download the 0.1.3 version of MPPatch https://lymia.moe/jenkins/job/MPPatch/ , then start the game and load the mods. You will then be presented with the option to click on "multiplayer" and set up multiplayer games the way you normally would. It should even work if you add other mods like infoaddict. I created a pinned thread below to help people meet for games.

A minority of players have experienced certain unanticipated bugs. Please see the bug thread below for ongoing discussion and potential solutions. The orc spearman/pikeman unit model bug that some are having can potentially be fixed by switching to directx version 9.
